An Investigator is the data analyst on an animal study sponsored by XYZ Pharma, Inc. The Investigator has 6% ownership in the publicly-traded ABC Pharma, Inc., which manufactures a product that competes directly with XYZ.

An Investigator's protocol is a departmentally sponsored, outcome study. The study measures changes in outcome based on post-surgical administration of certain drugs. Investigator's elderly mother resides in his household and has a large portion of outright stock in one of the drugs that is being used post-surgically.
